White Diagnostic consists of a huge, cohesive team of hand-chosen specialists whose backgrounds involve high level media buying and publisher aggregation.
Earlier in our careers each member was engaged in various aspects of using web traffic for profit and audience building and frequently encountered some of the less desirable elements of this business - fraud, bots, invisible iframes... You name it; we've seen it (and have lost money because of it).
Like nearly everything in the industry, the solutions seemed to be lying in the market’s popular anti-fraud companies, despite their lack of insight to the problem itself. Despite having come with different backgrounds and different sides of the traffic sales industry, each member of White Diagnostic's team came to the same conclusions:
- These systems provided no answers to the "whys" or "hows" fraud was taking place
- Most tools simply gave a pass/fail type response
- Bots and fraud still slipped through all of them, and not in a minority...in some cases we weren’t better off than before, sans a rubber stamp of quality
- The most important that for the small and medium sized business, the systems costs were exorbitant and completely limiting...the contracts for the tools using put many of us in the red, and the only one little benefit we had is that it has never returned us to the black.
In the other words, they didn't work and cost us small fortunes, so we started discussing a system which had all the elements we wanted without any of the unreasonable cost – this is how White Diagnostic was born.
Fast forward 3 months, to our first working prototype being unleashed on a small group of live campaigns we had been running.
The facts have astounded us - using our set of 100 fraud indicators and bots we found out that the fraud was still rife within our “filtered” campaigns, sometimes acting as a majority. Paying $30 CPM and $5k a month to have 60% of our traffic remains bots it was clearly not good enough and undeniably fraudulent.
The half of the team was set off to come up with a pricing model that would work for everyone, from the smallest individual buyer to the biggest corporation on the planet. Our engineering team continued to develop the key fraud indicators list and UI design that takes almost no training to start using it.
Lots of companies claim that fraud is an unbeatable problem and that it's just "the cost of doing business" - we totally disagree with this statement. The cost of doing business on the web shouldn’t include paying fraudsters a margin bigger than your own employees and your network partners combined.
